If You’re Voting in L.A.’s Election Next Month, Be Prepared, the Ballot is Long and Boring!

Well, hey, everyone! How’s life in your neck of the woods?

I’m doing well — as of today I’ve been on the Arimidex for, let’s see [counts on fingers, carry the one]

a little over a month and a half. So far, so good — no side effects to speak of, and fingers crossed it’ll stay that way!

So it’s back to more mundane activities, including performing my civic duty by painstakingly filling out the gigantic (8 pages!!) ballot for L.A.’s election next month. Fortunately, the slate of candidates isn’t quite as long it was in 2003, when a whopping 135 candidates ran for Governor, including such luminaries as the late, great Gary Coleman,

the late, not quite so great Larry Flynt,

and, of course, this guy:

And I won’t insult your intelligence by reminding you who won.

Sadly, this time we don’t have anyone running that’s anywhere NEAR as interesting, but at least it’s “only” 25, as well as “only” 11 for Mayor. Still tough to pick, but if you’re an “eeny meeny miny moe” voter, it won’t take quite as long.

Since this is a nonpartisan blog (mostly!), I won’t tell you who I voted for. And let’s face it, no matter who wins, we’ve still got a whacky crazy state, which probably won’t change any time soon.

Let’s see, how can I tie in the election stuff with my Body Positivity stuff? Well, er, let’s see … well, it’s good exercise filling out that ballot,

and of course, walking to the mailbox tomorrow to drop it in will be … oh heck, I can’t! I just can’t!

I will say I’ve been faithfully doing my calisthenics, both at the gym and outdoors on the trail, and really enjoying them. And as I said last week, sure do wish Hampton Liu had been my gym teacher!

But better late than never, right? Anyway, how’s by you? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll see ya next week!
